Blessings and Connections: Reflecting on Our Mission Trip to Guatemala and Future Crusade in Jalapa

Our recent mission trip with Mission Serve to Guatemala left a deep impression on everyone involved. The experience was filled with moments of joy, learning, and spiritual growth. We had the privilege to preach at several churches, meet with over 22 churches, distribute food to families in need, and engage in heartfelt conversations with both team members and locals. Each encounter strengthened our faith and broadened our understanding of the community we served. As we look ahead to a potential crusade in Jalapa next spring, we invite you to join us in prayer and support.

Preaching at Various Churches and Its Impact

During our visit, we preached at multiple churches across different villages. Each service was unique, but the message of hope and love resonated strongly everywhere. Many attendees shared how the sermons encouraged them to deepen their faith and trust in God despite daily challenges.

One memorable moment was at a church in a remote village where the congregation welcomed us with open arms. The pastor expressed gratitude for the encouragement and said the message would inspire their community for months to come. Seeing people respond with smiles, tears, and renewed spirits reminded us why these trips matter.

Meeting with Over 22 Pastors: A Unified Vision for Jalapa

We had the privilege of gathering with more than 22 pastors representing churches and denominations from across the Jalapa area. From the very beginning, our heart was to encourage unity—bringing the Body of Christ together around a shared mission to reach their communities with the Gospel.

During our time together, we prayed, listened, and cast vision for what it could look like for churches to stand side by side rather than apart. We encouraged them to work together across denominational lines, strengthening one another and creating a greater impact throughout Jalapa.

Many pastors openly shared the challenges they face, including limited resources and a desire for continued training. Yet even more powerful were the testimonies of faithfulness and perseverance. There was a clear sense that God is already at work—and that as these churches unite, their collective outreach can be even stronger.

Distributing Food and the Joy It Brought to the Community

One of the most tangible ways we connected with the community was through food distribution. Providing basic groceries to families brought immediate relief and visible joy. Children’s laughter and grateful smiles filled the air as they received bags of rice, beans, and other essentials.

This act of kindness opened doors for deeper conversations and built trust. It was clear that meeting physical needs alongside spiritual ones creates a powerful bond. The community’s warmth and appreciation reminded us that small gestures can have a big impact.

Meaningful Conversations with Team Members and Locals

Beyond formal activities, some of the most meaningful moments came from informal conversations. Sharing stories, hopes, and challenges with team members and locals created lasting connections.

We learned about daily life in Guatemala, cultural traditions, and personal faith journeys. These exchanges enriched our understanding and strengthened our commitment to serve. One team member reflected on how these talks helped them grow in empathy and patience.

Efforts to Communicate in Spanish and the Connections Formed

Some of us made an effort to speak Spanish, even if imperfectly. This willingness to communicate in the local language was appreciated and helped break down barriers.

Locals responded warmly to our attempts, often encouraging us and joining in laughter over mistakes. This shared effort built bridges and showed respect for their culture. It reminded us that connection goes beyond words; it is about openness and heart.

Looking Ahead to the Potential Crusade in Jalapa

As we reflect on the blessings of this trip, we are excited about the possibility of a crusade in Jalapa next spring. This event could bring together many churches and communities for worship, teaching, and outreach.

We ask you to join us in prayer for this crusade. Pray for open hearts, safety for all involved, and that the message of hope reaches many lives. Your support and prayers will be vital as we prepare for this next step. We ask that you would prayerfully consider financially supporting us in the endeavor God has called us to-preaching the Gospel.
